Program Description and Call for Nominees The Meeting Professionals International Orange County Chapter (MPIOC) is delighted to offer the MPIOC Student Program, sponsored by Marie Botvinick, CMP, CMM, D’or Solutions. This is an honorary program exclusively for the MPI Orange County Chapter.
Purpose The MPIOC Student Program, sponsored by Marie Botvinick, CMP, CMM, D’or Solutions, is an outreach initiative of MPIOC to encourage the next generation of meeting professionals to be involved with MPIOC. We believe that the result will be of significant mutual benefit, with the Chapter demonstrating MPI’s value to those not familiar with the Association, and with the Students assisting MPI, both at the Chapter and International levels, to be more responsive to their needs and the student community.
Benefits and Expectations of Participation Regular attendance is expected in this one-year program that will provide the following benefits to a maximum of 10 (ten) selected qualified students:
- Complimentary annual MPI International/Orange County Chapter membership for one year (currently valued at $40)
- Complimentary admittance to monthly meetings (approximately 8 scheduled each year) in the first year (currently valued at $320)
- Complimentary admission to (1) Educational Conference and (2) Annual Awards and Installation Dinner (currently valued at $165)
Eligibility Criteria To be eligible for consideration, candidates must:
- Be a current student at a four-year college or university in the Orange County area with at least 12 units OR enrolled in a complete extension program in the meetings industry at CSUF, Pomona College, CSULB, or CSUDH.
- Attend the programs and events comprising the students’ curriculum as detailed in the attached Sample Program. Note: individual RSVP required for each event. See Monthly Meetings and Event Registration Form, attached.
- Participate in the MPIOC Student Committee. Specific committee activity will be determined by MPIOC Director – Recruitment based on student’s talents, interest, and Chapter needs. Also, the students will assist as needed on-site at two events, (1) the Educational Conference and (2) the Annual Awards and Installation Dinner.
