Published for our Valued Members

Happy Fall!

Our 2016-2017 term is now well underway, and the business season for events is in full swing. Now is the time to stay especially focused on professional responsibilities while we juggle personal balance during the upcoming holidays.  This is the time, too, to look forward to 2017. What do you want can you be doing now to bring positive change next year?  What goals do you have in mind, and what strategic action plan do you have in place to make them reality?

MPIOC offers to you an array of opportunity, and I encourage you (dare you!) to try something new, to get out of your comfort zone, and to have the courage to invest in your future.  Will you learn a new skill, try a new technique, take on a new challenge, change jobs, or put yourself out there in some new way?  Whatever you decide, look to MPI for resources, peer support, and opportunities to try new things.  Attend meetings. Review educational resources. Join a committee. Apply for the board!

Whatever you do, I encourage you to do it with passion and with enthusiasm. Risk is inevitable. Failure is probable, but success cannot happen without either.  JUMP IN, MAKE A SPLASH, and ENJOY YOUR JOURNEY!

I hope you will reach out to your MPIOC network with your ideas, comments, and thoughts.  With that, I leave you with two inspiring quotes:

“Do one thing every day that scares you.” – Eleanor Roosevelt

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” – Mark Twain

2016 FIRST QUARTER SHINING STAR:  AnaLaura Becerra, AlliedPRA, Inc

Brian Gilman, VP of Finance praised AnaLaura’s work with MPIOC, saying “Her commitment last year as a volunteer was helpful throughout the year plus she grew to a committee member and event chair for the Holiday event while passing her CMP courses and taking on a new job. During a life-changing job change, AnaLaura continued to show us support for the Summer Social by arranging a youth synchronized swimming team. Her dedication to MPIOC goes beyond what has been requested. Besides her involvement as a volunteer, she is a big participant not only as an attendee to monthly educational and social events when she can, but she is a big contributor when it comes to our fundraisers always placing bids to help MPI reach their goals.”

Congratulations & thank you, AnaLaura, for your hard work and tireless enthusiasm!

Did you know, around the world, women spend a combined 200 million hours collecting water every day for their families? MPIOC has partnered with Stella Artois and on their “Buy A Lady A Drink” campaign, to help raise awareness of the global water crisis.

With every purchase of a $5 Stella Artois chalice, & MPIOC provide clean water for someone in a developing county for 4 years!

MPIOC is “Making A Splash” around the world: A HUGE thank you to everyone who purchased a chalice at our August Social event. We were able to raise enough money for 196 years of clean water.

If you are interested in learning more about this campaign or would like to purchasea chalice, please contact Pawntra Shadab, Director, Member Recognition & Community Involvement at
